Prep work for older Irish houses that aren't quite ready to take solar without some electrical upgrades first.
A lot of houses, especially anything wired before about 2010, aren't quite ready to take solar without some prep work. We do that prep:
- Consumer unit (fuseboard) upgrades so the PV system can be isolated and protected properly
- Earthing and bonding upgrades, common in older houses
- Surge protection devices
- Pre-install rewiring between the proposed inverter location and the fuseboard
- EV charger circuit prep if that's on the cards too
It's also worth doing if you're buying a house and thinking ahead, or if you're rewiring for other reasons and want to leave the future PV install as easy as possible.
